Slumpmasters

SLUMP i.e. a downward curve, being in the muck &
mire, and simply doing without. Therefore, their natural
progression is an upward bound movement, and the only
motion they’re going to role with. In addition
to the Slump mastering, the duo, which is composed of
Massive and Big Aziz, has definitely paid their dues.
They collectively possess over twenty years of experience
in the music industry. And when the prior elements are
fused, don’t fight it - just let it ride, because
you have jus been Slumpdified.
Jabba Jaws other wise known as Big Aziz hooked up with
the other half of the combo Mr. Massivo other wise known
as Massive, in order to salvage the Hip-Hop culture
in Dallas. They created a Hip-Hop night called REAL
LIVE and they were affectionately called the REAL LIVE
EMCEEs. Once they touched the stage an effortless chemistry
combusted. The undeniable balancement (that both of
them had been seeking), premiere lyrical and production
skills, coupled with their hustle mentality was the
catalyst that spawned the SlumpMasters.
The SlumpMaster’s southern flow and dirty sound
is not an imitation of the popular sound from those
who reside below the Mason Dixon Line, these Boyz here
are "the hottest thing this side of the Rio Grande".
And they are coming straight-up from DFW (Dallas Fort
Worth Texas). When Massive and Big Aziz are performing
their duties as the Slump Masters, a fresh and impressive
clip of rhyme styles are libel to spray in flows that
keep you reaching up while managing to deliver enough
of a contemporary song format for an unprepared listener’s
system to digest. The Slump Experience is an evolution.
At times it may be reminiscent of the echoing sound
of your fist against the school’s picnic table
while your homie rhymes over the beat. And just when
you think you have MASTERED the Slump Master’s
MO they hit you up side ya head with questions about
the present and future, and how repeating the past just
won’t do. Their method is, "to give their
listeners what they want until they learn to want what
we have to give." Their musical offering is cleverly
balanced with enough stimulating information and artistry
to carefully assimilate the listener to their sophistication.
Serving as primary producers of their songs, Massive
and Big Aziz drop crunked tracks and land on top of
them with a whirl-wind of rhymes, blazing through joints
that boldly assault your speakers. One of the Slump
Master’s completed songs is "Know betta"
which respectfully borrows the essence of Curtis Mayfield’s
narrative style pleadings in its sing song hook of "There
are people in the struggle..." The song describes
today’s "A" typical Cita clone or ghetto
girl whooping it up in the hood and doing what ever
she has to do to get paper. The second section of the
hook admonishes her behavior by stating: "She should
know betta…"
The SlumpMasters run an entirely self-contained powerhouse
production facility, and develop marketing strategies
for their product’s in house. The combo has also
launched their own Website which catalogs Slump projects
and affiliated emcees and producers. The site gives
the visitor a sample of the skills contained in their
camp (wwwslumpsouth.com). Hip-Hop connoisseurs, aspiring
artist, and entrepreneurs stand to learn a valuable
lesson from Massive and Big Aziz as they have gone completely
against the grain of common music industry practices
in their methodology of marketing and selling their
product. The SlumpMasters have identified refreshing
and less exploitive techniques for achieving success
by challenging old procedures of profit and responsibility
sharing between label and artist. "They empower
emcees." Evidenced by the fact that Slump affiliates
are encouraged to participate in Slump projects through
participating in the distribution of their own product.
This is a system that rewards them more than if they
were simply waiting around for others to make things
happen for them. SlumpMasters are poised to influence
and entertain many with their innovating artistry and
business practice, which for the first time will qualify
them as the first group to hope for a Slump in their
career. Welcome to the sacred order of Slump!
The SlumpMasters have been blessed to grace the stage
with the likes of KRS-One, Erykah Badu, Talib Kwali,
Mos Def, Slum Village, Lil Flip, Beatnuts, Jurassic
5, and Dead Prez. And they were the only unsigned artist
to be picked-up for the 2002 Vibe Black College Tour.
They have also released five independent compilation
albums on Slump Entertainment. If you are trying to
get – in, were you fit – in, make sure,
you do not sleep on the Slump Masters.
